"Women get more unhappy the more they try to liberate themselves."
Brigitte Bardot.
I am aware that this quote has nothing to do with style. But I figure considering, a while back, I already spent a post discussing Brigitte's style in her
first Dress Like an Icon feature, I might introduce a discussion on
this interesting quote, this time around. What do
you think? Do you agree with Bardot's thoughts on women's liberation? Or is she way off?

oh, brigitte bardot; my favourite! hmmm i've never associated liberation with being unhappy, but who knows. . . perhaps, she's right?! i guess if you some people abuse their free will, then that's when it gets out of hand, ♥
I suppose if everyone were perfectly happy with their lot in life, they would never try to change it, but perhaps I'm not reading that deeply into the quote.
At any rate, the black pencil skirt is kick ass, and I love the look.
Oooh la la, beautiful!
brigitte.. she's just stunning, sexy, elegant and everything !!
not all women could have those it factors !

great brigitte outfit! gorgeous xx
Depends on what she's liberating. You know, you really don't want to have to wear a bra unless you absolutely have too.
Very cool outfit. She is from a different era. Have to wonder if someone made her say that. Like a man..I dunno.
miss bardot is always charming for her bluntness to me.

its really cool post i like this colllection nice chioce
have a beautiful day hon
I don't know if she's right, I might need more school of life to know better, but I do think it has a lot to do with style as well, considering the time she lived in, bras, corsets, pants and all kinds of other revelations.

well, perhaps she felt that way in that spacific time. I don't agree 100% with her, but it is a very interesting perspective. Maybe it depends on te stage each women is in life, who knows! But she looks amazing anyway, anytime, her style is iconic and very very feminine :)
Thanks for the comment ;)
She is so hot! This is fabulous, I am so glad that ladylike (with a touch of sexy) is back! XX!
oooh Aussie blog buddy! I don't actually think I have any of those ;)
anyways, I think that's a really interesting idea. I sort of agree that sometimes people kick up too much of a stink about inequality instead of just getting on with their lives and proving what they can do... but I come from the incredibly priveleged background of never really having to worry about sexism....
Oh, I so agree with Heather's comment.
Thank you for stopping by, I don't know much about aboriginal art, should do more research ><

She's one stylish lady indeed!
As for her quote, I think it really depends on what one's referring to when talking about liberation...but in general I think of liberation as a positive thing...so I guess I'd have to hear this quote in context to judge :o)
Oh also, I'm glad the pigeon poop made ya giggle hehe ;o)
I have no idea! All I do know, is that she is fabulicious and so are those picks!
i love love love brigette's style (and her hair - i'm totally growing mine) and i suppose to a certain extent the more that we strive for liberation, the unhappier we are, but that's only because the ideal seems further away the more that we want. also, she said that in the 60s when feminism was only just kicking off :) little did they know what was coming!

I suppose when one is striving for ideals and liberation, it implies that one is unhappy with one's lot. Ignorance is bliss and all that.
On another note, Bardot just smolders in this photo. But then again, I can't think of a photo where she doesn't just exude s-e-x.
