This Month I'm Loving...

The start of September is a huge deal to all those below the Equator. It marks the end of winter...'a new beginning' for many. What better way to begin the month than with love? So this month I'm loving...

The Catcher in the Rye
by J.D. Salinger
I just finished reading this last night. At first, I was a little skeptical, as it takes a little while to get into the writing style (described as 'stream of consciousness' writing - very different), but a few chapters in I was hooked. An absolute classic, and an "unusually brilliant novel" indeed.

Beards.
Yum, yum yum.

Catching up with old friends.
Even if it is because of an incredible tragedy...one must always look for the positives, especially in the darkest of times.

Red Lips.
Still haven't tried it myself (I'm a terrific procrastinator), but I'm becoming more and more obsessed with the iconic red lip.

Australia's Next Top Model.
This will probably be on my list for the duration of the season. Such a guilty pleasure.

Tealights
A lovely substitute for a desk-lamp, to use to read at night. I may just keep it this way forever (though the pyro-phobic in me will probably get her way sooner or later).

Things that make me smile.
I dare you not to find this adorable.

The start of spring!
Here's to new beginnings! The sun may not be shining everyday, but that's Melbourne for you. And I wouldn't have it any other way...

What are you loving this month?

YAY for catching up with old friends! And Catcher in the Rye is great, no? It does take some getting used to, but it's great once you get into it!

beautiful post, love the bears ♥
as this month you are loving the start of spring, over here i am loving the start of autumn, watching the leaves change and feeling the air break into freshness, buying snuggly woolies for winter.
i love catcher in the rye too, its a great book. xx

Spending time with old friends is wonderful. I need to make a point of calling more, just to say "let's grab some coffee" otherwise I know it won't happen, and is there really a better way to spend an afternoon?

This month I am loving scarfs, I think I'm going to make a point of wearing them more. Now that the weather is sadly turning cooler.

I read The Catcher In The Rye a few years ago; I should probably go back to it as I'm pretty sure I didn't appreciate it properly last time!
I love the quote you based your blog on-another book I'll have to read, clearly.

J.D. Salinger is my absolute favorite writing and in my opinion, nothing compares to him. His writing is brilliant. Have you read his other published books? If not, you definitely should. They are beautiful.

i have always wanted to read catcher, its been on my to-read list forever. i really should go to borders and pick it up, in fact you have motivated me to go do it this week :)

and in answer to your question, i just used a normal template and customised the html. i used to be really into building websites from scratch and creating all the images in photoshop, i'm a little rusty now but :)

No I really enjoyed Catcher in the Rye before, I just doubt I understood the more subtle nuances etc! And I'm the biggest fail ever at films like that (I got scared watching National Treasure...which is a Disney kids' film...) so I might be giving that one a miss, lovely as the quote from it is!

gotta love my Holden..its funny about the beard picture because I have a friend who gets so grossed out by beards, but I don't. She always makes me think I'm going after low-lives...or something.

Roar! for spring. I'm think bears now.

I'm not a big lover of beards, but sometimes looking rough is really cute.. Much better than a perfect plastic face.

Love ur new layout by the way!

I'm sorry that trailer scared you on my blog! It's by the guy who did Pan's Labyrinth, and that film is amazing.

Yay for beards!
